The spectacular FX Racing Weekend kicks off at the Mugello Circuit. The engines of the prestigious Italian racing event are ready to rev up on the Tuscan track over the weekend of March 28-30, kicking off a season that promises to be packed with excitement and set to set new records in what marks its tenth anniversary. Over two hundred drivers will be competing in the first round of the season, ready to take on a total of twenty-one races across the ten categories.
There’s great anticipation, especially for the competition’s premier categories, with the X-GT4 Italy championship preparing for its third edition featuring a top-tier field of participants. This is demonstrated by the record-breaking number of free fan registrations for the Grid Walk, which will allow spectators access to the starting grid immediately before Race 2 on Sunday.
Following last year’s success by Portuguese driver Tomas Guedes, the hunt for the Italian title is ready to restart at Mugello with an international entry list featuring prestigious brands such as Mercedes, Porsche, Lotus, McLaren, Aston Martin, Ligier, and Audi. The Lema Racing team will field the Mercedes AMG GT4s driven by Kastelic-Tocci and Potez-Gaspar, as well as the Audi R8 LMS GT4 driven by Grega Simunovic; PB Racing responds with a trio of Lotus Emira GT4s, featuring the crews D’Aste-Schiavone, Naska-Copetti, and Abbati-Coldani, while CZ Bassano Racing Team will rely on the duo of Manuel Lasagni and Riccardo Wagner in the Mercedes AMG. There is also great anticipation for the two Ligier JS2 Rs on the grid, with LR Motorsport fielding Quondamcarlo-Mazza on one side and Andrea Frizza (reigning X-GTM champion) on the other, as well as for the debut of Team Spirit Racing’s Aston Vantage AMR GT4 with Mathias Villadsen at the wheel. Mugello will also see the welcome return of Andrea Bruno D’Angelo’s McLaren 570S, while the Porsche Cayman GT4s of Centri Porsche Ticino (with Danilo Arfini and Francesco Turatello) and BA Motorsport, on track with Jan Birsa and Bostjan Avbelj, will also be present. Compared to last year, it is worth noting the new race distance, now increased to 40 minutes with a mandatory pit stop and the possibility of a driver change.
